Bambai Meri Jaan (Season 1) Web Series Rating & Review : Kay Kay Menon & Avinash Tiwary Are Busy Being The Heroes But Gangster Drama Fatigue Kicks In Too Soon

Hussain Zaidi’s Dongri To Dubai, which centers on the most sought gangster Dawood Ibrahim, served as an inspiration for Bambai Meri Jaan. The D Company and the damage it caused to the city have been studied on numerous occasions, but the dramatic treatment and hero-like portrayal have always overshadowed the reality of those tales. Does the new Amazon program that you’re expected to watch for 10 hours rescue itself from getting worn out?

Dongri To Dubai, a book that introduces the uncrowned King of the Bombay Underworld, has been read by almost every crime thriller nerd. a man who created an empire out of nothing, literally rising from the ashes. Even Kay Kay’s voice actor Ismail Qadri remarks, “Usne paise se gutter saaf nahi kiya, usne sone ka gutter bana diya.” Is it therefore simple to resist viewing a man like this as a hero? Well, Shujaat Saudagar and his co-authors Sameer Arora and Renzil D’Silva are skilled at getting around that. The story’s brilliant strategy involves making the father the protagonist, having him recount his life, and having him constantly look down on Dara (Avinash). This aids in reminding the viewer that Dara (you know who) is still an arrogant man making bad decisions and breaking the law, regardless of how much he appears to be a hero in some passages.

The strength of Bambai Meri Jaan lies in this ability to produce some excellent gray characters through awareness. Even though it makes Dara the King and forces him to demand respect and seize it if it isn’t provided, the way the secondary universe is constructed is intriguing. One of the most intriguing character arcs belongs to Saddique (Jitin). He grows up as a furious man who seeks out first-hand experiences because he is the older sibling who is always forced to eat the inferior fruit. Along with their mother, he develops so beautifully on the TV.

However, when Bambai Meri Jaan decides to go full-throttle, it experiences gangster drama fatigue. The framework, which is the first thing that makes me tired, is similar to many projects that have been done before. Additionally, you are more likely to notice similarities because the specific mobster who serves as Dara’s inspiration has been portrayed and written about so much on television. Thus, the show’s structure feels similar to many others. A man from the underclass of society is born, grows up siding with the wrong group to set things right, is inspired by an accident that shatter him, and then, bam, he becomes king. Bambai Meri Jaan ends up not looking as new as the producers had hoped.

Even Dara’s transformation is so rapid and non-visual that it never has the intended effect on the people around him. What happens is Habiba—you already know who she is—taking the throne and declaring Bombay the new monarch. Because she was busy displaying the varying colors of who she ultimately became while remaining in the background.

Bambai Meri Jaan Review: Star Performance:

Bambai Meri Jaan strikes gold in terms of casting while coming from the same mill as Made In Heaven, Dahaad, and other similar dramas. I find it fascinating, as do many of us, how Kay Kay Menon is always reinventing himself as the hero while never sacrificing on the plot or character development of his works. As he breathes life into him, Ismail Qadri appears to be made specifically for an actor of his caliber. The actor does an excellent job in a role that narrates this story and even drives it for the majority of it. His mental instability makes silences uncomfortable, and at some point, even his eyes take on a different personality.

This week, two books by Avinash Tiwary are both classified as crime thrillers. He is playing a role that is eerily similar to a man who has actually lived and accomplished all of those things by taking on the persona of Dara. Each actor who has tried to portray a persona akin to Dawood Ibrahim on screen has been not only intellectually overshadowing the subject, but even physically enormous enough to fill you with dread. Tiwary is the exact opposite since he is a layperson who is intelligent rather than a huge, sculpted man with enormous biceps who can beat someone to pulp. He does a decent job of the adjustment and the role.

Actor Jitin Gulati has amazing talent. It’s crucial that he does the character right since he has a really sharp edge, and the actor succeeds in doing so. It’s one of the season’s most intriguing highlights (yes, the conclusion makes it seem like there is a second season). As the mother, Nivedita Bhattacharya is another notable performer. Her time has come as an actor who has been active for years doing unrecognized roles.

Habiba is carefully shaped by Kritika Kamra, who also carefully depicts her transformation. This character has already been portrayed by Shraddha Kapoor in one of our previous films. Even so, Kamra is able to claim Habiba as her own. Even Saurabh Sachdeva performs the role of Haji as a balanced silent player (you are wise by this point).

Bambai Meri Jaan Review: Direction & Music:

With his directing, Shujaat Saudagar (Rock On 2) does provide some thrilling moments. The closeness between Dara and his sister Habiba, her ascension to the throne, the father dying breath by breath, watching the crazy circus play out, and a funeral shot are just a few of the scenes that stand out in the film. All of this enhances the positive aspects of the experience and diverts your focus from the show’s repetition and similarity. Shujaat’s directing, however, also draws inspiration from the dramatic gangster dramas we have seen in the past, which doesn’t really help.

Both the background soundtrack and the art direction are excellent; they are done flawlessly and in the right quantity. Even though some outfits seem too modern for the time period in which the program is set, the production team succeeds in setting the mood.

Bambai Meri Jaan Review:

Although Bambai Meri Jaan is a mixed bag, it shouldn’t be disregarded. Watch it for the novelty and the excellent acting.
