Conclusion
“Freestyle” (2023) on Netflix is a must-watch for sports enthusiasts and movie lovers alike. With Maciej Musiałowski’s brilliant performance, captivating storytelling, and stunning visuals, it offers a cinematic experience that will leave you inspired and moved.
Freestyle is similar to one of those chasing-related nightmares. Although the film’s frantic pace intrigues you, the mental effort required to follow the plot interferes with your ability to fully immerse yourself in it. The decision had to be taken, and it appears that the narrative was only incidental. It is a taste of a life in which death stalks, pursues, and approaches you in the person of one guy or another. The movie wants to leave you with that. There are scenes where it becomes clear that Diego won’t survive because some of the characters are bad spirits.
That ought to have made me feel for the guy, but Maciej Musialowski, who has been in critically praised movies including The Hater, plays Diego with an air of invincibility. He is prepared to square up against everyone. Being fearless in its entirety is not being brave. Diego maintained a go-getter attitude despite the terrifying surroundings; this did not allow for the character to become more relatable to the audience. There is humor in the movie. Similar to the scene in Pulp Fiction where Butch goes to get his father’s watch, there is a scene where Diego tries to get his recordings that the manager had retained. Additionally, the scenes involving Diego and his “friend,” Flour, are amusing, if not downright ridiculous.
Although I am not a big fan of hip-hop, I have heard better music.Freestyle appeared to be one of those movies where the gangster and music worlds would merge. The movie focused more on a sequence of terrible incidents that put Diego’s sense of survival to the test. Though the concept is intriguing, the implementation is disorganized. It had the capacity to be a far more impactful movie.Freestyle is a well-written thriller whose incredibly fast pacing finally makes it confusing. Watch it for the camerawork and for the film’s example of how not to introduce character after character who wasn’t even thoroughly established in the first half.
This emotionally charged sports drama reminds us that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit can triumph, and dreams can be realized through unwavering determination. “Freestyle” is a testament to the power of resilience and the pursuit of excellence, making it a standout addition to Netflix’s ever-growing library of original content. Don’t miss the chance to witness this cinematic masterpiece on your next movie night.
